Tartan Skull Hood
Tartan Skull Hood
Scotland is known around the world for many things, one of the most recognised cultural icons is Tartan.
Tartan has a long varied history. The original tartans were simple checks of one or two colours, and the dyes came from plants, roots, berries and trees found locally where the cloth was woven. People in the same area would wear the same tartan and so in effect, they became clan tartans.
After the Jacobite uprising in the 18th century, tartan was outlawed to prevent the idea of a similar rebellion. However in the early 19th century (with the help of Sir Walter Scott) the wearing of tartan was reinstated.
Today there are thousands of tartans available, they no long need to be associated with a clan name, there is even a tartan for BBQ!
To honour the lineage of tartan we have created our own 'sett' using our brand colours. Forever a Tartan Skull!
