2017 has been a first for many things….I got married, I slept in a tree house and now I can say that I’ve been to a festival. Yes, despite my many years on this planet, I have never been to a festival.
We’re always on the lookout for new events to attend with Urban Pirate and customers kept telling us about great Belladrum is, so we thought ‘why not’.
I’m glad we did because it was probably the funnest event we’ve been to yet. Even the rain midway through didn’t dampen anyone's spirits. Belladrum has been labelled ‘the Glastonbury of the North’ and I can see why it’s very much a family affair and there are hundreds of things to keep all ages occupied. It’s almost like a festival filled with mini-festivals.
The stand out of the whole weekend was, without a doubt, Franz Ferdinand who played hit after hit. The Pretenders headlined on the Friday and Chrissie Hynde’s voice hasn’t changed a bit, you could close your eyes and you’d be back in the 80s. Sister Sledge were the headliners on the first night and belted out the disco hits….though they were literally ‘lost in music’ for about 50 minutes.
I did get the full festival experience too, there was mud everywhere!! I’ve never seen anything like it, it was like melted chocolate or some kind of weird soup. It didn’t matter though, it’s not like you could do your washing or anything…nothing wrong with getting a little dirty.
One thing that’s for sure, we’re definitely getting ready for 2018….
